Your comfort and safety are our main priorities, rest assured you’ll experience both in our Volkswagen Crafter 4x4 Camper Van. This vehicle is fully equipped with the following items:
The Volkswagen 4x4 Crafter camper van is ideal for travelling around Iceland in the spring and summer seasons, from late May to early September. In these months, you can enjoy the best weather in Iceland, characterized by the most extended daylight and the highest average temperature of the year. Thanks to the Crafter’s 4x4 capability, you can drive on all paved and gravel roads in stress-free.
If you are visiting Iceland in autumn or winter, from late September to early May, the VW Crafter is also a good option. It can also handle the icy, snowy roads under the unpredictable and everchanging Icelandic winter weather. But please be reminded that only a LIMITED number of campsites are open during winter and it is not the best time to camp in Iceland. We recommend you rent a 4x4 vehicle and stay in hostels or hotels if you are visiting Iceland in winter.
You can always travel around Iceland with the Volkswagen 4x4 Crafter camper van. Some of the sights that you can visit include the famous Golden Circle, the waterfalls and black sand beaches of the South Coast, the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, the Snaefellsnes peninsula, the North of Iceland or even the less-populated Eastfjords and Westfjords. You can also go to the Icelandic Highlands with your VW crafter when the F-roads are open in summer.
Please note that you will need to drive across rivers to visit the Icelandic Highlands area (including Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork). We ONLY recommend visiting the area with the rental car to the drivers who are experienced in river crossing. No insurance can cover the damage cost if you break the car’s engine or chassis while crossing the river.
The Ring Road or also known as Road 1 is the main road that encircles the island. Iceland's Ring Road is 1,332 km and we recommend travelling on Road 1 for at least a week. You can see some volcanoes, glaciers, beautiful fjords, black beaches, waterfalls and geothermic phenomenons along this popular road.
Westfjords are one of the most remote parts of Iceland. You can visit stunning places in this region located Northwest of the country. It is well known for Hornstrandir Nature Reserve and Dynjandi waterfall. The region is a paradise for nature lovers. You can also see a lot of wild animals.
Landmannalaugar is a stunning place located in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve in Iceland's southern Highlands. Well known for its hiking trails like the Laugavegur. In this region, you can enjoy hiking, fishing, or bathing in natural hot springs. The region is only accessible in the summertime with a 4WD vehicle.
